Dr. Poorna Chandra Gandhi Kaza, currently the Advisor to the Government of West Bengal and J&K, started his career in 1970 joining the Intelligence Bureau and specialised in forensic investigation services and later served the BPR&D before joining AP State Police Forensic Services and then served at the AP Police Academy before heading the APFSL in the rank of IG of Police and retired in 2007 as the Director transforming APFSL into a leading lab catering to the needs of the entire country and making forensic science popular not only in the police and judicial circles but also in all other government non-government and private sectors.
During this period he got Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from City University New York and underwent training in FBI, Interpol, Metropolitan Police, Scotland Yard and others.
Soon after retirement Dr. Gandhi established the first independent forensic science lab in India in the name of Truth Labs along with 18 retired Directors and Heads of forensic, police, medical, scientific and administrative service departments as a part of professional social responsibility and in the last 12 years Truth Labs has assisted many courts including Supreme Court, police including CBI, banks, insurance companies etc. from its offices spread in all the six metropolitan cities.
Truth Labs could support the victims of fraud, cheating, rape and murder across 25 states of India and helped in saving more than Rs. 5000 crores of public money by averting frauds.
For his distinguished service Dr. Gandhi was awarded Professional Excellence Award by the Dy. Prime Minister and the Home Minister in 2002, B C Roy Life Time Achievement Award in 2004, Indian Academy of Forensic Science Fellowship in 2004, AP Academy of Scientists Life Time Achievement Award in 2019, Governor’s Excellence Award in 2020 and several others.
To popularise forensic science across amongst the public, he started Post Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses in Andhra University, Osmania University, University of Hyderabad, Banaras Hindu University and others.
